Newcastle beat host of European clubs to signing of ‘huge talent’ after agreeing terms

Newcastle United’s summer transfer market is now open, and the club is preparing to announce another arrival.

Lloyd Kelly was announced as a free agent signing earlier this month, and Newcastle also confirmed the permanent signing of Lewis Hall.

The 19-year-old defender, who can also play in midfield, was desired by a number of European clubs, but Newcastle have moved to agree terms as his current contract is set to expire.

TBR understands that Borussia Dortmund and Monaco were among the interested parties, along with Brentford, Everton, and Fulham in England.

Pivas spent just one year with Serbian side Jedinstvo Ub, where he made 35 appearances in all competitions and drew the attention of clubs across Europe.

What Nemanja Matic has stated about Miodrag Pivas

The young defensive midfielder has certainly impressed a number of major European clubs with his exploits in Serbia.

Pivas, 19, has most recently played in Serbia’s second tier, but he comes to Tyneside with high praise from one of his country’s greatest players, Nemanja Matic.

“A tremendous talent with much potential. If he keeps playing like this, he’ll make the national team. “In my opinion, we haven’t seen a player with such predispositions since Nemanja Vidic and Bane Ivanovic,” Matic told Nogomania.

“A complete player and a top professional.”
