After a ‘phenomenal’ official visit to Louisville, Eric Hazzard, an edge prospect from Franklin, Tennessee, has committed to the Cardinals. Hazzard, standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 250 pounds, is a three-star recruit and the 11th addition to Louisville’s 2025 class.
“100% Committed!! L’s Up!!” Hazzard announced on Twitter on June 27, 2024, tagging several coaches and accounts related to Louisville and his high school.
During his visit, Hazzard was impressed by the hospitality and the experiences he had, which included a tour of downtown Louisville, a visit to Churchill Downs, and an exploration of the Yum! Center and the football facilities.
“It went phenomenal,” Hazzard said about his visit. “We were treated very well, and the hospitality was great. We got to see everything in Louisville and spend time at the football stadium.”
The visit also strengthened Hazzard’s relationship with the coaching staff. He had the opportunity to speak one-on-one with head coach Jeff Brohm and get to know defensive coaches Mark Hagen, Mark Ivey, and Ron English better.
“They see me as a top guy at Louisville and believe I can stand out in the ACC,” Hazzard said, acknowledging the staff’s confidence in his potential.
Hazzard, who had offers from Memphis, Western Kentucky, UAB, Charlotte, and Middle Tennessee State, among others, was a semifinalist for Mr. Football in Division I, Class 5-A during his junior year. He recorded 70 tackles, including 23 for loss, 12.5 sacks, and seven pass deflections. The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 91 edge prospect nationally.
