San Francisco (Calif) Chris Lawson, the Archbishop Riordan receiver, is heading to Washington. The Top247 receiver confirmed his commitment to the Huskies just seconds ago, giving them their fourth Top247 recruit for 2025.

Lawson reduced it down to California, Oregon, and Washington.
He had 23 offers and was also considering USC before dropping the Trojans and canceling a visit to focus on the Ducks, Bears, and Huskies.
Oregon appeared to be the destination for a long time, but Husky receivers coach Kevin Cummings, who was the first coach to offer Lawson while he was at Arizona, remained interested in him. Cal, the hometown school, made a late push, but it came down to the two Northwest schools and Cummings, with the Huskies finally winning out.

Lawson has a four-star rating in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings. Lawson is the country’s No. 217 overall player, the No. 25 receiver in the 2025 class according to 247Sports, and the No. 19 recruit in California. In 2025, the composite has him ranked as the No. 247 overall player in the country, the No. 32 receiver nationwide, and the No. 23 player in California.
How Chris Lawson Fits With Washington
Lawson is a good acquisition for Cummings and Jedd Fisch, and he will play out wide for the Huskies. While we wouldn’t be surprised if Lawson elected to play cornerback one day, since he has incredible upside on the defensive side of the ball and has conceded that it may be his best long-term position, the Huskies are bringing him in as a playmaker on offense. Lawson is one of the Huskies’ three Top247 offensive prospects, and he is the highest-rated skill prospect among the three.

Lawson has been a standout player in the NorCal region since his freshman year. He’s a versatile two-way player capable of excelling as either a receiver or cornerback at the high Power 4 level, though most recruitment efforts focus on his skills as a pass catcher. His smooth and fluid route running makes the game look effortless for him. Lawson exhibits plenty of burst and explosiveness after the catch, consistently turning short hitches or slants into long gains by evading multiple defenders.
He can stop and change direction on a dime without losing much top-end speed. His natural ability to catch the football allows him to quickly transition upfield without slowing down. With impressive track times of 10.96 in the 100m and 22.46 in the 200m, Lawson has the speed to outrun defenses. His versatility allows him to play both wide and in the slot, and he is expected to contribute in the return game as well.
Lawson’s well-rounded game and high ceiling make him a highly desirable prospect for any program in the country, and he has the potential for an NFL career.
