San Francisco (Calif) Chris Lawson, the Archbishop Riordan receiver, is heading to Washington. The Top247 receiver confirmed his commitment to the Huskies just seconds ago, giving them their fourth Top247 recruit for 2025.
“First thing I want to say is, thank you, to all the coaches who have given me an opportunity to come play at their school.”
What Chris Lawson Says About Washington.
“Washington is the best option for me.” In Seattle, I can really develop as a person both on and off the field.
“I believe you can’t go wrong with the staff. Everyone is sincere and wants to see you succeed.
“The opportunity to come in and play as a freshman in an NFL-type offense and defense also played a huge role in my commitment.”
“With the Washington staff, there is a lot of NFL experience and they really showed me that they want to get as many players as they can to the NFL.”

Visit Impressions
“My visit showed me how invested they are in their players both on and off the field,” Lawson said.
Relationship with Coach Kevin Cummings
“Coach KC (Kevin Cummings) was my main guy. Even though he hasn’t been at Washington long, we had a relationship from his time at Arizona, where he was my first offer. Coach KC is a great coach and has been recruiting me hard for a long time.”
Other Schools in Consideration
Lawson narrowed his choices to Cal, Oregon, and Washington. He had 23 offers, including one from USC, but he cancelled his visit with the Trojans to focus on the Ducks, Bears, and Huskies. Oregon seemed like the frontrunner for a while, but Kevin Cummings, who first offered Lawson at Arizona, stayed persistent. Cal, as the hometown school, made a late push, but it ultimately came down to the two Northwest schools, with Washington winning out.
Recruit Ranking
Lawson is a four-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is ranked No. 217 overall in the country, No. 25 among receivers in the 2025 class, and No. 19 in California. The composite ranks him as the No. 247 player overall, No. 32 receiver nationally, and No. 23 player in California for 2025.
#### Fit with Washington
Lawson is a key acquisition for Cummings and Jedd Fisch, expected to play out wide for the Huskies. Although he has potential as a cornerback and acknowledges that defense might be his best long-term position, the Huskies are bringing him in as an offensive playmaker. He is one of three Top247 recruits on offense for the Huskies and the highest-rated skill prospect of the trio.
Expert Analysis
Greg Biggins, national recruiting analyst, shares his thoughts on Lawson:
“Lawson has been a top player in the NorCal region since his freshman year. He’s a productive two-way player with the ability to excel as a receiver or corner at the high Power 4 level, though he’s primarily being recruited as a receiver. He’s smooth and fluid as a route runner, with the ability to make the game look easy. Lawson shows plenty of burst and explosiveness after the catch, capable of turning short hitches or slants into big plays by making multiple defenders miss. He can stop and start on a dime, change direction without losing much speed, and naturally catches the football, allowing him to quickly get upfield. He has the speed to outrun defenses, demonstrated by his impressive track season with personal bests of 10.96 in the 100m and 22.46 in the 200m. Versatile enough to play out wide or in the slot, Lawson should also get opportunities in the return game. With a high ceiling and NFL upside, he has the talent to play for any program in the country.”
