East Carolina Softball Adds Transfers Chloe Geijer and Trinity Nichols for 2025 Season
East Carolina Softball has announced the addition of transfers Chloe Geijer and Trinity Nichols to its roster for the upcoming 2025 season. The announcement was made by fourth-year head coach Shane Winkler on Friday.
Chloe Geijer
Geijer joins the Pirates after spending her first two collegiate seasons at Indiana. Last season, she competed in 28 contests for the Hoosiers, including four starts. The Frankfort, Ill. native hit .227, scored six runs, and tallied seven RBIs and three home runs. Notably, she recorded a career-best four RBIs in Indiana’s win over Northwestern (May 4) and had four games with two hits at the plate.
“Chloe has the potential to be an impact player for us,” Winkler said. “She had some big moments offensively in the Big Ten and will develop into a big-time threat in our lineup. She’ll see time initially at third base with the athleticism to move all over the field.”
In 2023, Geijer appeared in 12 games, earning her first start against Purdue Fort Wayne (Mar. 5), and recorded two RBIs in Indiana’s wins over UNC Greensboro (Feb. 26) and Michigan State (Mar. 5).
Before her time at Indiana, Geijer was a standout at Lincoln-Way East, where she was a two-time All-Conference, All-Area, and All-State honoree. She was named the Southwest Suburban Conference Athlete of the Year in 2022 and ranked as the 31st overall player in the class of 2022 by Extra Innings. Geijer also played travel ball for the Beverly Bandits.
Trinity Nichols
Nichols joins ECU after competing at Syracuse for her first two collegiate seasons. She missed the entire 2024 season but made 18 appearances with 14 starts as a freshman in 2023, recording four hits, three runs, and an RBI. The Winterville native also earned a spot on the 2022-23 ACC Academic Honor Roll and was named to the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
“I’m excited to bring Trinity back to Greenville,” Winkler said. “She’s going to be able to play all over the infield for us and will be a tough out in the lineup. It’s going to be fun watching her make a big impact for us in her hometown over the next three years.”
Before Syracuse, Nichols played at D.H. Conley, where she hit .411 and scored 41 runs, helping lead the Vikings to a 4A State Championship during her senior season. She earned First Team All-State honors as a freshman in 2019.
Conclusion
The addition of Geijer and Nichols is expected to bolster ECU’s roster significantly. Both players bring valuable experience and a history of strong performances, setting the stage for an exciting 2025 season under Coach Winkler’s guidance.
