The Celtics’ Summer League campaign got underway on Saturday at Cox Pavilion. Although the defending NBA champions were defeated 114-109 by the Heat in their opening game, there were a number of encouraging things that came out of the game, including how well Baylor Scheierman performed once he found his game and started to show off his all-around impact. Additionally, although the team’s first-round pick this year is signed to a guaranteed contract, one of his teammates from Sin City who is vying for a spot in the league will accompany the C’s first-round pick in Boston for training camp. The former Rutgers star registered two points and a block while on the floor for 10:05 during Boston’s Summer League loss to Miami. He was on a two-way contract with the Raptors before getting injured and then waived in December.
