Rankings matter, but they don’t tell the whole story. In the 2025 class, one of my favorite commitments for Michigan football is cc, who, despite being one of the lowest-ranked recruits for the Wolverines right now, has been making significant progress.
Originally ranked outside the top 500 when he committed to Michigan, Wright has climbed to No. 428 overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Hailing from Louisiana, Wright’s rise is understandable. He has clocked a 100-meter dash time of 10.46 seconds. Like Jasper Parker, Wright was previously underrated in Louisiana, but now LSU is making him a priority, which is concerning for Michigan football.
LSU’s interest in flipping a Michigan commitment is not new. The Tigers recently secured a commitment from Derek Meadows, a top-100 wideout from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, overtaking Michigan. However, LSU has missed out on some other prospects, and Shea Dixon from the LSU On3 site, The Bengal Tiger, reports that LSU is still heavily targeting Wright and may be making progress towards a flip.
The report indicates that LSU is attempting to get Wright on campus for their recruiting event at the end of July. If this happens, a flip could become a real concern. Similar to Parker, one reason Michigan secured Wright’s commitment was the apparent disinterest from LSU.
That has, however, officially changed. The Wolverines will need to exert effort to hang onto Wright’s commitment until Signing Day since he has emerged as a key target. But keep a watch on Wright the next weekend; if he doesn’t come to LSU, I’d be a little more confident in his dedication.
