Breaking: Orioles Confirm The Signing Of Another Star Player

The Baltimore Orioles have sent Cade Povich back to Triple-A and brought up reliever Colin Selby, just a day after Povich’s best performance in his MLB career. Povich, 24, is ranked as the Orioles’ No. 5 prospect by MLB.com and has been bouncing between Triple-A and the majors this season. Selby, 26, is now joining his third MLB team. The Orioles made this move to add depth to their bullpen after heavy usage over the past three days. However, this doesn’t rule out Povich making another start, as the Orioles are likely to need him later in the season.

Povich’s Promising Start

After struggling in his first stint in the majors, Cade Povich was called up on Saturday to pitch against the Boston Red Sox. He delivered an impressive performance, going 6 1/3 innings and allowing just two earned runs, earning a standing ovation from the crowd. This outing was a significant improvement from his previous eight starts, where he posted a 6.27 ERA. Notably, Povich managed to avoid any walks, a marked improvement given the 23 walks he allowed in his first eight starts. He also matched his career-high with six strikeouts. It was a strong showing for the 24-year-old lefty, and he is expected to return to the majors soon.

What Colin Selby Brings

Although Selby’s time with the team may be brief, he has an opportunity to make an impact in Sunday’s game against the Red Sox. The Orioles’ bullpen has been heavily used in this series, and Selby could provide a fresh arm that Boston hasn’t seen yet. He relies primarily on a 94 MPH four-seam fastball, complemented by a curveball, sinker, and slider. Selby might see action today, especially with starter Albert Suárez typically not pitching past the sixth inning. If used, Selby will aim to offer effective relief and give the Orioles’ bullpen some much-needed rest.
