Top247 defensive lineman Chase Linton has decommitted from Rutgers, with Ohio State and Georgia vying for a fall visit. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound prospect, ranked as the No. 191 overall player and No. 24 defensive lineman in the 2025 class, had initially committed to Rutgers in early June after an official visit.
Despite his commitment, Georgia continued to pursue the North Atlanta High standout, and Ohio State also entered the picture. Linton informed Rutgers of his decision to reopen his recruitment on Saturday before making a public announcement. “My family and I had amazing experiences at @RFootball and met great coaches and athletes,” he shared. “So it’s very difficult to post this but at this time I’m re-opening my recruitment.”
Following his Rutgers commitment, Linton visited Georgia and is scheduled to return in October. He previously camped with Georgia in late May but wasn’t offered immediately due to leaving early for his Rutgers visit. However, Georgia extended an offer during a late July visit, with Bulldogs outside linebackers coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe working closely with Linton, who appreciated the coaching advice.
Linton is considered an ascending pass rusher with elite athleticism, standing out in his position group with impressive physical attributes, including a nearly 80-inch wingspan. While he may need time to develop at the collegiate level, his potential as a highly athletic pass rusher with NFL Draft upside is significant, particularly if he continues to refine his skills during his senior season.
