The Miami football program has some catching up to do before Byron Louis, a four-star running back from American Heritage, announces his commitment on September 21. According to 247Sports and On3, Florida State is currently the leading contender for his commitment.
On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Florida State a 91.7 percent chance of landing Louis. Zach Blostein from Noles247 is the only analyst to have logged a crystal ball prediction for Louis on 247Sports. Miami has a slim 3.6 percent chance of securing his commitment, while Georgia is at 1.7 percent, according to On3.
Wisconsin has less than a three percent chance of signing Louis. In June, Louis took official visits to Miami, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Florida State in that order. Among these, Miami has hosted him the most, with nine visits, followed by Florida State and Georgia, each with four visits.
As a junior in 2023, Louis rushed for 1,224 yards and 18 touchdowns, averaging 7.7 yards per carry. Over his high school career, he has accumulated 1,849 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns, including 11 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2024. Miami sophomore RB Mark Fletcher previously played at American Heritage. Currently, four-star Girard Pringle Jr. from Seffner Armwood is the only running back committed to Miami for the 2025 class. Miami might sign only one running back in this class, and all current RBs on the roster have eligibility remaining beyond 2024, with four having at least three years left.
Miami’s starting cornerbacks, Damari Brown and Darryl Porter, are also American Heritage alumni. The 2025 Miami recruiting class is currently ranked 10th in the 247Sports composite rankings. Adding Louis would be a significant boost to this class, but the Hurricanes are still poised to sign another top group of recruits.
