Ahead of their Week 3 game against the Houston Texans, the Minnesota Vikings have promoted two players to the active roster: tight end Robert Tonyan and outside linebacker Bo Richter. This marks the first time both players have been elevated this season.
The decisions to elevate these players come in light of Nick Muse being placed on IR, which left the Vikings with only two tight ends, and Dallas Turner being ruled out for Sunday’s game.
Richter made a notable impression during the preseason after going undrafted from the Air Force Academy, showcasing his skills with multiple sacks. It was unexpected when he didn’t initially make the active roster, but the team managed to sign him to the practice squad.
Tonyan, who seemed a strong candidate to secure a spot earlier in the offseason, also ended up getting cut.
While it’s unclear how much playing time either player will see on Sunday, they are prepared to step in if needed.
