Sudden Exit: Setback As Yankees reliever Exits The Team Due To Season Ending Injury

The New York Yankees are just one victory away from reaching a 90-win season, but they faced a tough challenge in their recent game against the Seattle Mariners, suffering a narrow 3-2 loss. Manager Aaron Boone struggled to navigate Dan Wilson’s batting lineup, and there was another concern for fans: Jake Cousins was pulled early from the game.

According to Bryan Hoch of MLB, the Yankees decided to shut Cousins down due to tightness in his right pec, which would hinder his pitching ability. Given the postseason on the horizon, the team is likely being cautious with his health. Cousins managed to pitch just 0.1 innings but still secured a strikeout against the Marlins.

As for the rest of the Yankees’ pitching staff, their performance was not as strong as hoped. Clarke Schmidt had the most significant outing, pitching five innings, recording seven strikeouts, and allowing one earned run, although he also issued three walks.

Tim Hill and Clay Holmes were called upon to help, but both struggled to find their rhythm. Holmes pitched just one inning with one walk, while Hill gave up two walks and struck out one. Overall, the Yankees didn’t achieve the pitching success they desired and couldn’t complete a series sweep, but they did win two out of three games against the Mariners.
