Breaking: Florida Gators Confirms The Exit Of Key-Man Till The End Of 2024 Season

When Florida Football faced Mississippi State last Saturday, Gator fans may have noticed a familiar last name on the Bulldogs’ roster. Many likely recognized the player and his ties to Florida.

That player, Creed Whittemore, recently announced he would be sitting out the remainder of the 2024 season, joining a wave of players making similar decisions across the country.

Creed, a four-star receiver from the 2023 class, committed to Florida in May 2022 while his brother, Trent Whittemore, was still on the team. Trent had 19 catches in the 2021 season, but his role diminished in 2022, where he only made four catches. Sensing that his brother’s future at Florida was uncertain, Creed transferred to Mississippi State in October 2022.

Trent has since moved to UCF, where he has accumulated four catches over the last season and a half.

In Saturday’s game against Florida, Creed recorded two catches and showcased his explosive potential, but his overall playing time has been limited in 2024. To preserve a season of eligibility, the former Florida commit from Gainesville announced he would be sitting out the rest of the season and transferring.

He follows two other notable players who made similar announcements on Wednesday. Matthew Sluka of UNLV declared he would be sitting out due to an NIL dispute, while former five-star defensive tackle Bear Alexander at USC also announced he would be sitting out because of dissatisfaction with his playing time.
