Alabama football head coach Kalen DeBoer announced during Wednesday’s SEC Coaches Teleconference that WOLF linebacker Yhonzae Pierre will not be available for the game against South Carolina this Saturday.
Pierre shared a photo from a hospital bed on his Instagram story yesterday, captioned, “Just a minor setback for a major comeback.” Details regarding his injury remain unclear.
“Yhonzae will not be with us this weekend due to his injury,” DeBoer said. “I actually didn’t receive the full details until later yesterday afternoon, so we’re expecting him to be out for this weekend, but we’ll see how things develop after that.”
Pierre has participated in all five games this season, recording four tackles and two pass breakups.
Heading into this matchup, Pierre was part of the WOLF rotation alongside Qua Russaw and Que Robinson, but it looks like Russaw and Robinson will get additional snaps against the Gamecocks.
DeBoer also provided updates on injured Crimson Tide wide receivers Kendrick Law and Kobe Prentice.
“Both of them are out here going through workouts,” DeBoer noted. “They’re making progress toward the weekend, but I wouldn’t say they’re fully cleared yet. They’re on track as we hoped, getting some individual and team work in, and it’s looking good.”
No. 7 Alabama will face South Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. CT on ABC at Saban Field, Bryant-Denny Stadium.
