Jonah Coleman feels physically fit and has quickly brushed aside any concerns about possible injuries.
The junior running back for Washington acknowledges that the Huskies haven’t yet reached their full potential on the field, but he remains focused on making the most of his opportunities.
Coleman emphasized the team’s approach, noting, “We play a multiple-back system. Everybody’s got to play.” This reflects the collaborative effort within the team to utilize all available talent effectively.
During Saturday’s 40-16 loss to Iowa at Kinnick Stadium, Coleman stood out as Washington’s top offensive performer.
He recorded nine carries for 80 yards, highlighted by a notable 31-yard run late in the third quarter, and added two receptions for five yards.
Although this was the fewest carries Coleman has had this season, head coach Jedd Fisch explained that the game’s dynamics led to a shift away from the run early on.
He also mentioned that managing Coleman’s health was a priority as the game progressed and the score became lopsided, allowing for a more cautious approach in the second half of the season.
