Point guard Jalen Reece is a significant addition to LSU basketball, and there’s no doubt about it.
Reece, a four-star prospect from Orlando, Florida, announced his commitment to LSU on Wednesday. He opted for the Tigers over offers from Providence and Cincinnati, despite receiving more than 15 offers overall.
In an interview with 247Sports, Reece shared, “I felt like it was the best opportunity for me in terms of my goals, especially wanting to go to the NBA. The atmosphere and environment felt great.”
The NBA pipeline at LSU played a crucial role in his decision. Reece specifically mentioned players like Ben Simmons, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, and Antonio Blakeney, who briefly played with the Chicago Bulls.
“Knowing that players like Antonio Blakeney and Ben Simmons went there inspires me,” Reece told On3. “It’s my turn to wear the jersey, and having the chance to play there is huge.
Antonio Blakeney is like a big brother to me. Last year, he advised me to always be the last one out of the gym. He’s shared a lot of tips, and I train with him in the summer. I really value our relationship.”
LSU appears to be an ideal match for Reece, and the Tigers are landing a talented player. According to the 247Sports Composite, he ranks as the No. 10 point guard recruit in the nation.
