TEAM UPDATE: Boost For Texans Defense As Key Defensive Player Returns Just in Time

Defensive lineman Denico Autry is gearing up for his debut with the Houston Texans this Sunday as they take on the Green Bay Packers.

Signed in free agency, Autry had to sit out the first six games due to a suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy, but he was activated to the roster on Saturday.

Last season, Autry enjoyed a breakout year with the Titans, recording a career-high 11.5 sacks.

Over his career, he boasts impressive stats, including 310 tackles, 59 sacks, 80 tackles for loss, and 107 quarterback hits. His return comes at a crucial time, as the Texans will be without defensive tackle Mario Edwards Jr., who is serving a four-game suspension for a substance-abuse violation.

In addition to Autry’s return, the Texans have elevated cornerback and return specialist Desmond King, along with fullback Troy Hairston, for the upcoming game. With both Steven Sims Jr. (back) and Robert Woods (foot) sidelined, King’s skills as a returner will be essential.

King has a proven track record, with two punt return touchdowns and an average of 9.3 yards on 109 career punt returns, plus a 22.5-yard average on 62 kickoff returns.

The Texans will be looking to make a statement against the Packers, and Autry’s presence on the field could provide the boost they need.
