After completing an 11-year professional basketball career, the former Washington Huskies star returned to Montlake in July, where he was a four-year starter and two-time captain, ranking second in the school’s history with 469 assists.
Gaddy takes on the role of Washington’s new director of player development, following in the footsteps of previous UW point guards Lorenzo Romar, Jason Hamilton, and Will Conroy, who also returned to coach the Huskies.
“He brings immediate credibility to our players because of his playing experience, and he embodies that Husky pride, which he instills in them,” said UW coach Danny Sprinkle.
“He’s a hard worker with no sense of entitlement. He’s willing to put in the effort at the beginning of his coaching career, and he truly enjoys it.”
After a recent practice, the 32-year-old Gaddy, a former McDonald’s All-American from Tacoma’s Bellarmine Prep, reflected on his eventful career with the Huskies, which included a season-ending knee injury during his sophomore year and four postseason appearances, including two trips to the NCAA tournament.
