Louisville tight end Jamari Johnson will miss the remainder of the 2024 season due to an ankle injury sustained during Saturday’s loss to Miami.
Head coach Jeff Brohm shared the update during his weekly press conference on Monday.
Johnson had been demonstrating significant potential this season, recording 13 catches, which ranked fifth on the team, and totaling 158 receiving yards, placing him fourth among his teammates.
Notably, he caught the game-winning touchdown pass in the fourth quarter of Louisville’s recent 24-20 victory against Virginia.
With Johnson sidelined, Brohm is expected to turn to graduate transfer Mark Redman to increase his production. The San Diego State transfer has made 11 receptions for 139 yards so far this season.
While Johnson’s statistics may not fully reflect his impact, he has stood out as a vital part of the offense this year. His potential is immense, and he, along with Isaac Brown, could serve as key building blocks for the team’s future.
Wishing you a speedy recovery, Jamari.
