Fresh off a thrilling win against Alabama’s 6A defending state champion, Clay-Chalkville, Mims has not only helped his team secure the region title but also earned a spot on Alabama’s All-Star squad for the upcoming Alabama vs. Mississippi Classic.
In the recent game against Clay-Chalkville, Mims demonstrated his talent by throwing for 195 yards and two touchdowns, leading Oxford to a come-from-behind victory.
This win snapped Clay-Chalkville’s impressive 21-game winning streak and solidified Oxford’s position at the top of the Alabama 6A rankings. Mims’ leadership and skill on the field have been pivotal in keeping Oxford undefeated this season.
Following his standout performance, Mims received the honor of being named one of two quarterbacks on Alabama’s All-Star team. “It is a great honor,” Mims said, expressing gratitude to his family, teammates, and coaches.
He will join Texas QB commit KJ Lacey on the 41-player roster, with the game scheduled for December 14 at Mobile’s Hancock Whitney Stadium. Mims aims to represent Oxford proudly in this prestigious matchup.
In addition to his recent success, Mims continued to excel in Oxford’s latest game, throwing for 124 yards and three touchdowns in a commanding 49-0 win over Huffman High.
As of now, he ranks fifth in Alabama with 2,147 passing yards and boasts an impressive completion rate of 72%, with 23 touchdowns and only three interceptions this season.
As a junior, Mims led Oxford to the second round of the Alabama 6A playoffs, completing 205 of 288 passes for 2,670 yards and 29 touchdowns.
His consistent performance and dedication to the game have caught the attention of college scouts and fans alike, making him one of the most promising quarterbacks in the state.
