MAJOR SETBACK: Yankees Looses $37 Million Elite Player In Shocking Trade Proposal With Nationals

The New York Yankees will need a near-flawless offseason to position themselves for a potential World Series run in 2025. After falling short against the Los Angeles Dodgers this year, where the Dodgers dominated the series, New York faces additional challenges.

They may lose key players such as Juan Soto, Anthony Rizzo, Gleyber Torres, and several important bullpen arms. Without significant moves, the Yankees risk being surpassed in the American League East by teams like the Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays, and Boston Red Sox.

Chris Kirschner of The Athletic recently suggested the Yankees could trade Marcus Stroman to the Washington Nationals. This is an idea I’ve supported for a while, and Kirschner detailed a potential trade scenario.

The proposed deal would see the Yankees receive utility player Juan Yepez, while the Nationals get right-handed pitcher Stroman, infielder Jorbit Vivas, and $6 million in cash. Kirschner noted that the Nationals are seeking pitching depth, and Yepez, who can play multiple positions, could provide a solid bench option for New York.

With Washington looking to improve at first base, Yepez may be expendable. If the trade goes through, the Yankees would save $8.5 million and acquire a pre-arbitration player in Yepez.

Trading Stroman would be a significant move, particularly after he was left off the postseason roster last year. Including Vivas and the $6 million wouldn’t be a major loss, and these assets would be valuable to the Nationals. Overall, this trade could benefit both teams and appears to be a win-win.
