The real USC is clearly the South Carolina Gamecocks, and when three-star safety Steve Miller committed to USC, he probably should have used a Gamecock logo. However, he is currently committed to Southern Cal, although his decision is far from final.
Miller, who committed to Southern Cal in mid-October, has kept his options open. The Greensboro, Georgia native visited South Carolina unofficially when the Gamecocks defeated the ranked Texas A&M Aggies during Homecoming weekend in a lively atmosphere at Williams-Brice Stadium.
This weekend, Miller will make his official visit to Columbia as the Gamecocks host Wofford on Senior Day. This will be an ideal opportunity for Miller to see a strong defensive performance, something he’s likely hoping for as part of his evaluation.
South Carolina has already secured three safeties in its 2025 recruiting class, including two three-star recruits and one four-star prospect. As a Georgia native, Miller could be a valuable addition to the class, especially given that South Carolina has had success in recruiting local talent and players from nearby states under head coach Shane Beamer.
Miller stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 185 pounds, earning a three-star rating from 247Sports. He’s highly sought after, with offers from Southern Cal and other power conference schools, including Mississippi State, Kansas, Arkansas, Indiana, LSU, Maryland, NC State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, and, of course, South Carolina.
A highly recruited player like Miller typically has skills that make him attractive to top programs. While his official visit may not coincide with a high-profile SEC game, South Carolina can still impress him with a strong performance against Wofford—ideally dominating early and maintaining control for the rest of the game.
