ESPN: Huge Move As Yankees Steal $100 Million Star From Hated Division Rival

The New York Yankees have managed to recover well after losing Juan Soto to the New York Mets. They’ve already bolstered their roster by signing free agent starting pitcher Max Fried and acquiring Devin Williams from the Milwaukee Brewers via trade.

While New York may still look to add more depth to its bullpen, their primary area of focus remains the lineup, particularly filling Soto’s spot in the outfield.

According to Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller, the Yankees are expected to target Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander in free agency, with Miller predicting that Santander could leave the Orioles to sign a five-year, $100 million deal with the Yankees.

Miller noted that New York has been aggressively pursuing Santander, and his addition would significantly strengthen the top of the Yankees’ lineup.

Santander would join stars like Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Austin Wells, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Anthony Volpe, and top prospect Jasson Domínguez in a formidable lineup.

While questions still remain at first and second base, adding Santander would mark a major step toward rebuilding the dynamic offense that carried Aaron Boone’s team to the World Series in 2024.

As a switch-hitting outfielder, Santander would thrive in Yankee Stadium’s hitter-friendly environment. Though he may not consistently maintain a .400 OBP, his power could shine, with the potential to hit 40+ home runs multiple times over the life of a five-year deal. This move would be a pivotal addition as the Yankees look to cement their status as favorites in the American League.
