Less than a month after his game-winning touchdown against Clemson, following his coach’s public endorsement for Heisman consideration, and after being named SEC Freshman of the Year, South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers secured an NIL deal to ensure his return for the 2025 season.
On Christmas Eve, South Carolina’s official NIL collective, The Garnet Trust, confirmed that they had reached an agreement with Sellers — solidifying his position as the Gamecocks’ starting quarterback for the upcoming season.
The timing of the deal was somewhat surprising, as it wasn’t finalized before the transfer portal opened on Dec. 9, especially given that nearly a dozen other Gamecocks, including standout edge rusher Dylan Stewart, had NIL deals in place by then.
Sellers’ return is no shock, however, considering his outstanding performance during South Carolina’s six-game winning streak to close out the regular season. During those games, the redshirt freshman completed 67% of his passes (100 of 149), throwing for nearly 1,500 yards (247 yards per game) while also rushing for over 400 yards and scoring 17 total touchdowns.
For the season, Sellers finished with 2,274 passing yards and 17 touchdowns, plus 655 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.
His NIL valuation stands at $2.7 million, according to On3Sports, the highest on South Carolina’s roster.
This announcement came just a day after the Gamecocks signed Ohio State transfer quarterback Air Noland, adding more intrigue to the quarterback competition.
