South Carolina strengthened its secondary for the 2025 season by signing defensive back Myles Norwood, who transferred from Ball State. The 6-foot-1, 183-pound player from St. Louis is making a significant leap to the SEC after competing in the MAC.
Norwood’s final decision came down to South Carolina and Kentucky, with Norwood choosing Columbia over Lexington. In the 2024 season, Norwood recorded 38 tackles, including 22 solo, 2 tackles-for-loss, 10 pass breakups, and a fumble recovery. According to Pro Football Focus, he earned a solid coverage grade of 71.8 over 456 snaps in 12 games for Ball State, mainly playing at outside cornerback with some snaps at nickel.
With several defensive backs departing from Kentucky for the NFL Draft or the transfer portal, the Wildcats could have used Norwood, but he opted to join their SEC rival, South Carolina. Norwood is expected to play a key role in the Gamecocks’ secondary in 2025 after quickly establishing himself as a regular in Ball State’s defensive rotation.
