BREAKING: Yankees GM Brian Cashman Gives Reasons For Marcus Stroman’s Departure to Division Rival

The New York Yankees are reportedly looking to make a move involving their surplus of starting pitchers, with one insider predicting a potential trade.

MLB insider Pete Caldera of NorthJersey.com shared his 25 predictions for the Yankees in 2025, including one that suggests the team will trade Marcus Stroman to their division rivals, the Toronto Blue Jays, in exchange for two prospects.

“Seeking to unload Marcus Stroman’s $18 million contract for ’25, GM Brian Cashman trades the right-hander back to the willing-to-spend Toronto Blue Jays for two lottery pick prospects,” Caldera wrote.

Stroman is entering the final year of his two-year, $37 million deal with the Yankees. After a challenging season in New York, where he didn’t pitch during the playoffs, Stroman could provide valuable depth to the Blue Jays’ rotation.

Caldera also predicts that Stroman will start a game in the Bronx in April and contribute to a dominant win for Toronto.

“On Luke Weaver Bobblehead Night in the Bronx, Marcus Stroman blanks the Yankees through seven innings of a 4-1 Blue Jays’ late April win,” Caldera forecasted.

Stroman was drafted by the Blue Jays and played for Toronto from 2014 to 2019. He was an essential part of the team’s 2015 and 2016 playoff runs and remains a fan favorite in Toronto.

In 2024, Stroman posted a 10-9 record with a 4.31 ERA across 30 games and 29 starts for the Yankees.
