BREAKING: Missouri Football Has Officially Confirmed The Addition Of A Key Transfer To Bolster Its Linebacker Unit Ahead Of The Upcoming Season

After a major basketball upset, the good news continued for Missouri Tigers athletics on Tuesday, with the football team providing the latest boost. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz secured one of the top remaining players in the transfer portal: linebacker Damon Wilson.

The former Georgia linebacker will stay in the SEC, joining the Missouri Tigers in Columbia for his junior season.

Wilson follows his former Georgia teammate, Darris Smith, who transferred to Mizzou ahead of the 2024 season but missed the entire year after suffering an ACL injury in preseason camp. Smith played a key role in recruiting Wilson to the Tigers, making this addition a significant one for Mizzou.

As a sophomore at Georgia, Wilson recorded 22 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. One of his standout qualities was his durability, as he appeared in all 14 games for the Bulldogs.

Just two recruiting cycles ago, Wilson was one of the nation’s top recruits, choosing Georgia over programs like Alabama and Ohio State.

Wilson is expected to make an immediate impact for the Tigers in the 2025 season.
