BREAKING: Yankees re-signs Tim Hill as Mets and Dodgers Face Setback in Lefty Reliever Chase

Teams aiming for a World Series title can never have too many strong bullpen arms, and quality left-handed relievers who can close games are especially rare. That’s why Tim Hill, a left-handed reliever who finished the 2024 season with the New York Yankees, is attracting considerable interest from teams with high hopes for the upcoming season, even at this point in free agency.

Pat Ragazzo of Sports Illustrated reports that, in addition to the Yankees showing interest in re-signing Hill, both the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers are also monitoring the 34-year-old lefty. The Arizona Diamondbacks are another team looking to pry Hill away from the Yankees, while the Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Angels, two teams at the bottom of the standings, are also exploring the possibility of signing him.

Ragazzo noted that Hill and the Yankees share “mutual interest” in a reunion, but the Mets could still be a major contender for his services, as Hill is reportedly open to joining the team.

It makes sense that the Mets, always eager to outbid the Yankees, would be one of the main rivals for Hill’s signature. After all, the Mets were the team that made Juan Soto an offer he couldn’t refuse, and given their competitive nature, it wouldn’t be surprising if Hill ends up in Queens.
