The Kansas State football team will have more returning starters on its offensive line than initially anticipated.
Taylor Poitier, a 6-foot-3, 305-pound senior from Kansas City, has been granted an additional year of college eligibility. He has chosen to take advantage of this opportunity and return for another season with the Wildcats.
Poitier made the announcement Thursday night with a brief post on social media, which simply said, “Why not? Let’s do this thing.”
This is a positive development for K-State head coach Chris Klieman, as he will have a sixth-year player with more experience than any other offensive lineman on the roster. Poitier started all 13 games at right guard last season, contributing significantly to a team that won nine games.
He also played in every game in 2023 and has accumulated nearly 2,000 snaps during his time at K-State. Poitier is expected to take on a leadership role on the offensive line next season, alongside returning center Sam Hecht. New players will fill the other three spots on the line.
In December, Poitier revealed that he had requested a waiver from the NCAA to play an additional year due to injuries that kept him out of nearly all of the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He said if the waiver was approved, he would face a tough decision between returning for one more season or moving on to the next stage of his life.
Ultimately, he decided to return to K-State for another year.
