Quarterback Kai Horton, who served as a backup for Tulane over the past four seasons, has decided to transfer to Washington, according to a report from On3sports on Tuesday.
Horton, a redshirt senior, appeared in 13 games for Tulane throughout his career, completing 64 of 123 passes for 853 yards, with six touchdowns and five interceptions.
A three-star recruit, Horton was ranked as the 27th-best pro-style quarterback in the nation by 247Sports coming out of Carthage (Texas) High School, where he led his team to back-to-back 4A state championships in his junior and senior years.
At Washington, Demond Williams Jr. is expected to be the starting quarterback for the upcoming season. Williams, a true freshman, started the final two games of the season and had an impressive performance in the Sun Bowl loss to Louisville, throwing for 374 yards and four touchdowns while adding 48 rushing yards and a touchdown.
For the season, Williams completed 82 of 105 passes for 944 yards and eight touchdowns, with just one interception, and also rushed for 282 yards and two touchdowns.
Behind Williams, Washington has limited quarterback experience on the roster. Shea Kuykendall, a fourth-year junior, has yet to play for UW after transferring from Northern Colorado, where he passed for 454 yards and two touchdowns in four games. Additionally, the Huskies have two incoming true freshmen, Dash Beierly and Treston “Kini” McMillan, who enrolled this month.
