BOOST: Kansas State’s most experienced Key Man set to play extra year for Wildcats

Kansas State’s football team will have more returning starters on the offensive line than initially anticipated. Senior Taylor Poitier, a 6-foot-3, 305-pound lineman from Kansas City, has been granted an extra year of college eligibility and has decided to use it for one more season with the Wildcats. Poitier shared his decision on social media, saying, “Why not? Let’s do this thing.”

This is a positive development for K-State head coach Chris Klieman, as Poitier is the most experienced offensive lineman on the roster. He started all 13 games at right guard last season and played a key role in the team’s nine-win season. Poitier has played nearly 2,000 snaps at K-State and will help anchor the offensive line next season, alongside returning center Sam Hecht. The other three positions on the line will have new starters.

In December, Poitier revealed that he had requested a waiver from the NCAA to play an additional year due to missing almost all of the 2021 and 2022 seasons because of injuries. After receiving approval, Poitier faced the tough decision of staying in college or moving on, but ultimately chose to return for his final season with the Wildcats.

This extra year provides a boost for K-State’s offensive line, as Poitier’s leadership and experience will be crucial as the team prepares for the 2025 season.
