The Philadelphia 76ers have added former Alabama forward and Pelham High School standout Alex Reese to their roster on a two-way contract. Reese will join the Delaware Blue Coats, the 76ers’ G League affiliate, while also being eligible to play in up to 50 NBA games this season.
A two-way contract allows teams to carry extra players beyond the 15 on the regular roster, with these players being able to shuttle between the NBA team and its G League affiliate without being exposed to waivers.
Reese, who most recently played for the Rip City Remix, the G League affiliate of the Portland Trail Blazers, has been impressive this season, averaging 17 points, 7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.8 blocks in 26 games. He has been particularly effective from beyond the arc, hitting 42.9% of his three-point attempts.
The 6-foot-9 forward has already seen limited NBA action, making his debut with the Oklahoma City Thunder on October 27. In the game, Reese managed to score and grab a rebound in just under two minutes on the court.

Reese’s basketball journey has been a bit unconventional. After taking a year off from the game to work as a bartender and furniture mover, he made a successful return to the court in the 2022-23 season, averaging 23.7 points per game. He previously starred at Pelham High School, earning three All-State selections and being named the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Class 6A Player of the Year in 2017.
With his strong performances in the G League, Reese now has the opportunity to prove himself on a larger stage with the 76ers, a team looking to bolster their roster for the remainder of the season.
