HUGE-BOOST: Giants Confirm Veteran Quarterback as Potential Solution This Offseason

The New York Giants have confirmed that they are actively considering veteran quarterback Mac Jones as a potential solution to their quarterback dilemma this offseason. With the third overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, the Giants are also exploring free agency to secure a quarterback who can provide immediate support, especially if they miss out on their preferred draft option.

Jones, who spent his first few years with the New England Patriots before being traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars, has struggled to replicate his rookie-year success. Despite an impressive 2021 season that saw him throw for 22 touchdowns and lead the Patriots to the playoffs, his performance has declined since then. In 2024, after Trevor Lawrence’s injury, Jones made seven starts for the Jaguars, recording 1,672 yards, eight touchdowns, and eight interceptions, but the team struggled to a 2-5 record in his starts.

Given the Giants’ financial flexibility, bringing in Jones would be a cost-effective way to shore up the quarterback position. Jones could serve as a bridge starter or a reliable backup if the Giants choose to develop a rookie quarterback.

The potential reunion between Jones and Giants head coach Brian Daboll, who coached Jones at Alabama, could also help revitalize his career, bringing a stronger passing attack to the Giants’ offense.

With Jones being a low-risk, high-reward option, the Giants are poised to make a move that could give them both experience and stability at quarterback, while they continue to build for the future.
