MAJOR BREAKING: Braves Avoid Major Injury Setbacks Just In Time For Opening Day

When Sean Murphy was hit by a fastball and ruled out for 4-6 weeks with cracked ribs, Braves fans collectively groaned, fearing the injury issues from last season had carried over. The anxiety only grew when Jurickson Profar injured his wrist diving for a ball in the outfield.

It felt like a case of Murphy’s Law for the Braves: anything that could go wrong, would go wrong. Of course, Profar, the team’s only significant offseason addition, would get hurt before Opening Day. The injury seemed serious, with fears that he might have fractured his wrist, which would have meant a much longer recovery.

Thankfully, Profar avoided a major injury. His X-rays came back clear, though further structural damage could have been revealed in an MRI. Fortunately, the news was positive: Profar will be ready for Opening Day, as confirmed by Mark Bowman.

“I’m very confident,” Profar said about being available for Opening Day. “I’m very, very confident.”

With Spencer Strider and Ronald Acuña Jr. already expected to miss a month or more, and Murphy’s injury adding to the worry, fans were on edge. But with Profar’s injury not as severe as initially feared, the new Braves outfielder feels he could be ready to play if needed right away.
