For the second time in less than a day, Washington football secured a commitment from a 2026 defensive back. Elijah Durr, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound cornerback from Mount Tahoma High School, announced his pledge to Washington on Monday morning. Durr becomes the seventh high school player to join the Huskies’ 2026 recruiting class, following IMG Academy defensive back Ksani Jiles, who committed on Sunday.
Durr, a three-star recruit, is ranked as the No. 11 player in Washington and the No. 75 cornerback nationally according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He also holds scholarship offers from a range of schools, including Arizona, Arizona State, California, Cincinnati, Illinois, Michigan State, and Wisconsin.
Greg Biggins, a national recruiting analyst for 247Sports, praised Durr’s physical style of play and ability to use his length in contested ball situations. He noted that Durr plays with solid technique, has good ball skills, and doesn’t rely on grabbing or clutching, a common issue for young corners.

The Huskies’ 2026 cornerback group could see plenty of opportunities for playing time. Washington is expected to lose several key contributors in the secondary after the 2025 season, including presumed starters Ephesians Prysock, Tacario Davis, and nickel Dyson McCutcheon, all of whom are set to exhaust their eligibility. Additionally, five cornerbacks entered the transfer portal in the winter window, further depleting the position.
Durr’s ball skills are also complemented by his experience as a wide receiver at Mount Tahoma. While Biggins noted that Durr could improve his top-end speed to compete with faster college receivers, he emphasized that Durr has significant potential as a high-level Power 5 prospect.
Durr’s commitment highlights coach Jedd Fisch’s efforts to bring in-state talent to Washington. He is the fourth Washington recruit to commit for the 2026 class, joining linebacker Wassie Lugolobi, athlete Terrance Saryon, and two-way lineman Ah Deong Yang. Fisch’s recruitment strategy seems to be paying off, as he continues to target top in-state prospects.
