JUST IN: Vikings Take Major Gamble On Former Receiver’s Upside Despite Health Concerns

The Minnesota Vikings were looking to strengthen their wide receiver depth behind All-Pro Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, and general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah found a potential gem in former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Rondale Moore, despite concerns about his injury history.

The Vikings have reached an agreement with Moore, who was traded to the Atlanta Falcons for Desmond Ridder last season. However, Moore’s time with the Falcons was cut short after a serious knee injury in training camp, preventing him from getting any playing time.

Minnesota plans to place Moore in a position where he can succeed, though there’s a risk he may once again struggle with injuries and miss valuable playing time.

Moore, who had a standout career at Purdue despite his 5’7″ frame, has totaled 1,450 scrimmage yards (including 249 rushing yards on jet sweeps) in his three seasons with Arizona. However, injuries have plagued him, and he missed all of last season due to the knee issue. In addition, he sat out 12 games across his first two NFL seasons because of various injuries. When healthy, Moore shows impressive speed, agility as a ball-carrier, and reliable hands that would fit well in Kevin O’Connell’s offensive scheme.

Moore will compete with Jalen Nailor for the WR3 spot, a challenge that could be within reach if Nailor doesn’t replicate his strong 2024 performance. Moore could also serve as a gadget player, similar to how Arizona used him in creative running plays rather than as a traditional receiver.

While Moore may not have a huge impact on the Vikings’ win-loss record, he could be an intriguing option for O’Connell to get creative with. If he stays healthy, Moore could end the season as the starting No. 3 wide receiver.
