A standout basketball player from Putnam North has officially announced her commitment to Kansas State University.
The player, a four-star recruit and the 59th-ranked prospect nationally in the 2025 class, had previously signed with Auburn. However, on March 15, she chose to reopen her recruitment, coinciding with her significant contribution to her high school team’s victory in the Class 6A girls’ basketball championship. Putnam North triumphed 65-48 over Mustang, securing their first-ever girls’ basketball title in the process.
Brandie Harrod, a 6-foot-1 left-handed forward, made the decision to commit to Kansas State in the wake of Auburn’s firing of head coach Johnnie Harris. Harrod had been a standout performer for her team, and the coaching change played a role in her reevaluation of her commitment.
During her senior season, Harrod delivered an impressive performance, averaging 13.5 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2.5 assists per game. Her all-around game and leadership were crucial to Putnam North’s successful season and eventual championship win.
Harrod’s commitment adds to Kansas State’s growing strength in recruiting, as their 2025 class is currently ranked 10th in the nation according to ESPN. This ranking reflects the high caliber of players they’ve secured for the upcoming season.
The announcement is a significant boost for Kansas State’s women’s basketball program, as they continue to build a competitive team for the future. Harrod’s talent and potential will be valuable assets as she joins the Wildcats.
