HUGE-BOOST: Green Bay Strikes Big In Free Agency, Securing Top Cornerback with $48 Million Deal

The Green Bay Packers have made only a few notable moves in NFL free agency this offseason, with one of their key signings being former Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Nate Hobbs.

To secure Hobbs, the Packers gave him a four-year, $48 million contract. While the deal is substantial, Hobbs is expected to play a significant role for the team in 2025.

Though Hobbs’ move flew under the radar for many, it could prove to be a smart acquisition for Green Bay in the long run.

An NFL executive recently shared a strong opinion about the 25-year-old defensive back. Mike Sando of The Athletic gathered insights from several NFL executives, and one praised Hobbs, saying, “He’s not going to be a prima donna like Jaire Alexander.

He’ll come in and play hard, which will be huge for them. His mentality is solid, and he’s also a versatile nickel guy—a tough, physical player the defensive coordinator can move around and use in various ways.”

During the 2024 season with the Raiders, Hobbs played 11 games, recording 49 tackles, one interception, and five defended passes.

It will be interesting to see how Hobbs contributes to the Packers in 2025, and whether Green Bay decides to part ways with Alexander or keep him for another season. Regardless, Hobbs is expected to provide a solid return, helping strengthen the Packers’ secondary moving forward.
