A seasoned right-handed reliever has rejoined the Atlanta Braves organization for the second time this season, signing a minor league deal, as confirmed by the team’s official transaction page. The player had initially elected free agency after being designated for assignment following his season debut against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
After being released by the Texas Rangers, the reliever signed with the Braves late in Spring Training. Though he didn’t make the Opening Day roster, he was added to the 26-man roster after reliever Hector Neris was designated for assignment following a pair of challenging outings.

The player in question is Jesse Chavez, who is in his 18th MLB season. Chavez pitched two innings for Atlanta on March 31, allowing a home run in his outing. Following that appearance, he was designated for assignment to make room for Zach Thompson as a fresh bullpen arm.
Chavez, who made his MLB debut in 2008 and first pitched for the Braves in 2010, has been a consistent presence with the team since 2021, including making 46 appearances last season.
