Missouri basketball has secured its second transfer of the 2025 offseason, adding center Luke Northweather from SEC rival Oklahoma. The news was shared on Sunday afternoon by On3.com reporter Pete Nakos via a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).
Northweather, a 6-foot-11, 240-pound center, was a highly ranked three-star recruit and the No. 6 player from Missouri in the Class of 2022, according to 247Sports.
He attended Blair Oaks High School in Jefferson City, where he was named the 2021-2022 Gatorade Missouri Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Last season, as a redshirt sophomore with the Sooners, he averaged 2.7 points and 1.5 rebounds.

He had notable performances, including a 10-point, seven-rebound effort in an 82-77 win over No. 24 Arizona on November 28, and a six-point, six-rebound showing in a 98-70 loss to No. 1 Auburn on February 4.
Northweather’s arrival addresses Mizzou’s need for size in the frontcourt following the departure of Josh Gray. He is expected to contribute as a true center, playing alongside Mark Mitchell. Northweather joins forward Jevon Porter – a Columbia native – as the first two transfer additions for the Tigers this offseason.

With the departures of Marcus Allen and Aiden Shaw, Missouri still has work to do in the portal, as more players continue to commit to new teams.
One potential addition could be former five-star prospect Jayden Quaintance, a 6-foot-9 forward who averaged 9.4 points and 7.9 rebounds as a freshman at Arizona State. With Northweather on board, Missouri now has three open scholarship spots.
