The Auburn Tigers football team has bolstered its defense by adding former LSU linebacker Xavier Atkins through the transfer portal. Atkins, who hails from Humble, Texas, played in seven games during his freshman year at LSU, recording three tackles.

Standing 6 feet tall and weighing 210 pounds, he was ranked as the No. 6 linebacker in the transfer portal by On3 Industry.

Atkins chose Auburn over other programs, including Colorado, following a visit to the university. His decision was influenced by his relationship with Auburn’s defensive coordinator, DJ Durkin, who previously recruited him while at Texas A&M.

Atkins expressed enthusiasm about joining Auburn, stating that it feels like home.

As Auburn’s 10th transfer portal addition, Atkins addresses a need at the linebacker position, especially with the departure of key players like Eugene Asante.

With three years of eligibility remaining, Atkins is expected to make an immediate impact on Auburn’s defense in the upcoming seasons.
