Mel Kiper of ESPN has released his latest two-round mock draft, which has some intriguing picks for the New York Giants.
In Kiper’s predictions, the Giants select Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter with the third overall pick. Despite the Giants signing veteran quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, Kiper sees Carter as the best option to improve the defense, especially given the team’s current roster holes. Carter, who posted impressive stats with 12 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss in his first full season as an edge rusher, would add significant depth to the Giants’ defensive line alongside players like Kayvon Thibodeaux, Brian Burns, and Dexter Lawrence II.

Kiper also predicts the Giants will take a quarterback with their second-round pick, No. 34 overall, choosing Alabama’s Jalen Milroe. While Milroe has had some accuracy issues, Kiper believes his strong deep ball and ability to change a game with his legs make him an intriguing prospect for New York. Milroe would benefit from learning behind experienced quarterbacks Wilson and Winston, giving him time to develop under head coach Brian Daboll, who has successfully worked with quarterbacks like Josh Allen in the past.
The pick of Milroe represents a calculated risk. Kiper’s prediction comes with some excitement, as Milroe has the potential to become a game-changing quarterback, with comparisons drawn to players like Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts. If Milroe can improve his accuracy, he could become a future star. With no immediate pressure to start, Milroe’s development could be a long-term benefit for the Giants.
