Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Reynaldo López will be sidelined for most of the season following a clean-up procedure on his right shoulder today in Los Angeles. The positive news is that no structural damage was found, according to an update from Braves manager Brian Snitker before today’s game.
López will be re-evaluated in 12 weeks, making a return before August unlikely. Signed by the Braves as a free agent ahead of the 2024 season, López had a standout year after joining the rotation.

He made 25 starts, posting a 1.99 ERA and a 3.5 fWAR, while striking out over 27% of the batters he faced.
This offseason, the Braves adjusted his contract, allowing them to keep him through a team option until 2027.
Before last season, López had not started more than nine games in a season since 2019. He was expected to take the fourth spot in the Braves’ rotation this year after Spencer Strider’s return.
