MAJOR BREAKING: Yankees Suffer Shocking Departure but Secure Worthy Replacement in Blockbuster Trade with Dodgers

After falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series, the New York Yankees let two-time All-Star Gleyber Torres leave via free agency. He went on to sign with the Detroit Tigers. Meanwhile, the Dodgers continued their trend of loading up on top-tier talent. Despite their star-studded lineup, they might still be looking to strengthen at second base.

According to Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report, Torres could be a strong fit for the Dodgers. While Los Angeles could also pursue a center fielder—especially given Tommy Edman’s flexibility—Miller believes adding a true second baseman makes more strategic sense.

Last season, Torres posted a .257 batting average with a .330 on-base percentage and a .378 slugging percentage for the Yankees. He started this season 3-for-7 before landing on the injured list, but he’s reportedly close to returning and has begun ramping up his hitting.

If acquired, Torres would likely take over second base, allowing Edman to shift to center field and potentially replace the struggling Andy Pages. However, this move could complicate things for Hyeseong Kim, who’s currently performing well in Triple-A after signing a three-year, $12.5 million deal from the KBO. If the Dodgers do trade for Torres, Kim might be used as a versatile bench piece.

Adding Torres could solidify an already stacked Dodgers infield of Max Muncy, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Torres—while the outfield could feature Teoscar Hernández, Michael Conforto, and Edman. With his experience, Torres might be the final piece the Dodgers need to push for a second straight championship.
