MINOR- SETBACK : A Bruise On The Blues And Oranges: Mets Hope For Quick Recovery After Outfielder’s Exit

The New York Mets continued their early-season momentum with a win over the Oakland Athletics on Friday, bouncing back from a brief one-game losing streak. Before that, the Mets had enjoyed a six-game winning run, including a sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays.

With a 9-4 record, they currently lead the National League East and are off to a strong start in the first season of the Juan Soto era.

During Saturday’s game against the Athletics—the second of a three-game series—the Mets announced that center fielder Jose Siri had to leave the game due to a left shin contusion. The team labeled him day-to-day and made the announcement via social media. The injury will be something to watch closely as the team aims to keep up its early success.

Siri, acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays during the offseason in exchange for pitcher Eric Orze, has had a slow start offensively, hitting just .050 through his first nine games.

Despite the lack of production at the plate, he has managed eight stolen bases and drawn four walks. His next chance to return to the lineup will be during Sunday’s series finale, or possibly when the Mets begin their next series on the road against the Minnesota Twins.
