2027 quarterback prospect DJ Hunter has committed to the University of Kentucky, citing a strong connection with the coaching staff and a desire to contribute to the Wildcats’ future success.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound dual-threat quarterback from Bearden High School in Knoxville, Tennessee, announced his commitment following a visit to Lexington, marking the first for Kentucky’s 2027 recruiting class.
Hunter’s decision was influenced by the relationship he developed with Kentucky’s coaching staff, particularly head coach Mark Stoops and offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan.
He expressed confidence in their ability to develop his skills and help him reach his full potential. Additionally, Hunter’s commitment to Kentucky aligns with his aspirations to play in the Southeastern Conference and contribute to a program with a rich football tradition.
During the 2023 season, Hunter showcased his talents by throwing for 1,431 yards and nine touchdowns, while also rushing for three scores, despite playing only eight games due to injury.
