COMMIT! K-State Land Commitment For Monmouth Top Experienced Player

Abdi Bashir, a 6-foot-7 sophomore from Omaha, Nebraska, has announced his commitment to Kansas State.

Bashir previously played for Monmouth, where he put up impressive numbers last season—averaging 20.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 33 minutes per game. He shot 38% from three-point range and earned All-CAA First-Team honors.

Speaking with The Wichita Eagle, Bashir shared his excitement: “I’m thrilled. The Big 12 is one of the top conferences in college basketball. I know it’s a physical league, so I’m working on adding muscle to be ready. I still haven’t played my best basketball yet, and I’m looking forward to showing K-State fans what I can do.”

His arrival brings much-needed perimeter shooting to the Wildcats, especially after sharpshooter Brendan Hausen entered the transfer portal.

Bashir has already proven his scoring potential, including a standout 38-point performance against Rutgers in January, where he hit 10 of 17 shots from beyond the arc. Over the season, he averaged over 10 three-point attempts per game.

Once an unranked high school prospect, Bashir is the second player to transfer into Kansas State this offseason, joining 6-foot-8 Memphis forward Tyreek Smith. His younger brother committed to Auburn in February.

Before choosing Kansas State, Bashir drew interest from top programs including Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, and Kentucky.

The Wildcats ended last season with a 16-17 record, going 9-11 in Big 12 play and missing the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row.
