The South Carolina Gamecocks have experienced a significant amount of roster turnover through the transfer portal this offseason. One notable departure is former wing Zachary Davis, who has now officially committed to Memphis, according to his social media.
It wasn’t an ideal 2024–25 campaign for the Gamecocks. They missed out on the NCAA Tournament, declined an invitation to the NIT, and have seen several key contributors either transfer or declare for the NBA Draft.

Davis, one of those key losses, entered the portal following the season and has now found a new home at Memphis. He posted a career-high 22 points in games against both Florida and Mississippi State, and logged a personal-best 38 minutes versus the Bulldogs.
While his average of 8.2 points per game may not be difficult to replace, Davis brought valuable veteran experience that’s hard to quantify and could be missed on the court.
