Running back Greg Burrell, who has spent time with both UNLV and Texas State, is reportedly considering transferring to Kansas State, according to multiple media sources.
Burrell, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound Las Vegas native, played the 2024 season with UNLV before making a brief transfer to Texas State this offseason. Now, he is expected to visit Kansas State’s campus in Manhattan.
Last year, Burrell rushed for 366 yards and scored three touchdowns across 12 games, sharing the backfield in a crowded rotation. His best performance came against Utah Tech, where he tallied 101 yards on just 11 carries.
Known for his explosive acceleration and north-south running style, Burrell has shown flashes of big-play ability when given opportunities.
Coming out of high school, he was a three-star recruit and ranked as the No. 2 running back in Nevada by 247Sports. He committed to UNLV over offers from several Mountain West and Pac-12 programs.

A transfer to Kansas State would help reinforce the Wildcats’ running back room following the departure of star D.J. Giddens to the NFL. Currently, Dylan Edwards and Joe Jackson are the only returning backs with game experience.
The Wildcats did land Nebraska transfer Gabe Ervin Jr., though he has struggled to stay healthy. Meanwhile, La’James White recently entered the transfer portal, making depth and durability key concerns ahead of the 2025 season.
Kansas State wrapped up last season with a 9–4 record and went 5–4 in Big 12 play. Despite being a preseason favorite, the team had an up-and-down year before closing with a thrilling 44–41 bowl victory over Rutgers on December 26.
