HUGE BOOST: Braves Land New Weapon in Huge Deal to Revive Slumping Outfield

The Atlanta Braves’ reunion tour continues as they make more roster moves, including bringing back a familiar face from the 2021 World Series championship team. Along with Ian Anderson’s return to Atlanta, the Braves have also signed outfielder Eddie Rosario to a major league deal.

Rosario, who recently became a free agent after turning down an outright assignment from the Los Angeles Dodgers, is stepping in as the Braves look for production in their outfield. Atlanta’s outfielders have struggled this season, combining for a disappointing -0.6 fWAR. However, with Rosario’s underwhelming 2024 season, in which he posted a .175/.215/.316 slash line, 10 home runs, and a 45 wRC+, it’s unclear if his addition will be more than a temporary fix.

In a separate move, Jarred Kelenic has been sent down to Triple-A after struggling to produce, hitting just .167/.231/.300 with two home runs and a 48 wRC+ over 65 plate appearances. Despite the Braves’ hopes for Kelenic when they signed him before 2024, his performance has fallen short, and he’ll now get time in the minors to try and rediscover his form.

Additionally, Davis Daniel is returning to Gwinnett after a solid debut with the Braves on Sunday, where he threw a scoreless inning in a loss to the Diamondbacks. Meanwhile, Zach Thompson has been designated for assignment after pitching 3.2 scoreless innings in two appearances during the road trip to Tampa and Toronto, with no action since April 15.

The Braves continue to shuffle the edges of their roster in search of consistent contributors. As with past moves, the door remains open for veterans like Jesse Chavez, Ian Anderson, and Eddie Rosario, all of whom could play key roles if they can prove themselves once again in a Braves uniform.
